GKR during SXSW 2011: an Unofficial Episode
A few of us Grown Kids flew south this year to attend the madness that is known as SouthXSouthWest. This conference/gathering has enlarged so much over the years, and at times it felt like one was walking through a catalog of corporate brand sponsorships, free energy drinks, gifting, etc. The amount of talent that attends Austin, TX for 10 days (during SouthBy) can be overwhelming too, but with the same respect, it's always an honor to hear and discover some great freakin' music. Being able to witness the thoughts and innovations are invaluable as well - an overabundance of ideas, collaborations, live music, meetings, good food and entertainment only makes up about half of the experiences during SouthBy; and this is the reason why more and more flock to TX each year. Big ups to the city of Austin, TX for hosting such a spectacle, SXSW for attempting to create a dialogue and experience, all the INDEPENDENT artists, promoters, etc etc. Below is a tiny representation of a GKR experience at SXSW, and shouts to all the artists below! Shouts to Eddie $umlin too.
